A Christmas Dinner of Dignity and Belonging

On Saturday, December 20, our St. Mary’s team in downtown Halifax hosted their annual Christmas dinner for neighbours experiencing food insecurity. Approximately 100 people attended and shared a warm, welcoming meal together. For many in attendance, this meal was not only a source of nourishment but a reminder that they are seen, welcomed, and not alone during the holiday season.

We were especially grateful to have a professional chef volunteer their time and talent to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner, complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, all the fixings, and desserts. The care and effort put into the meal truly reflected the spirit of the season.

We extend our sincere thanks to every volunteer, donor, and supporter who made this evening possible. Your generosity, time, and compassion helped create a space of dignity, community, and belonging for those we serve. Moments like these remind us what is possible when a community comes together to care for one another.
